Consumer Tech Startup50

In Startup50 2017: Parentune was first nominated to the Startup50 2017 Long List by Singapore-based SEGNEL Ventures, spearheaded by Hideki Fujita. This online platform designed for parents made it to the List for serving over 1 million users (mostly parents) with high-quality content on nutrition, health, education, and child psychology and behavior.

Founders: Venugopal Pottu and Nitin Pandey

Building a parenting guide: The company was founded with a vision to build a high-quality, monitored platform for peer-to-peer discussions amongst the parent community. Be it content on pregnancy, managing a new born, toddler, pre-teen or teenage, the community serves as a key go-to resource to over 1 million verified parents. The discussions are on many different topics including wellness, nutrition, child development, parenting tips at various stages of child development.

Building a business model: The company has also built a sound business model by connecting brands to parents in a non-interfering format. For example, its workshops or live chats led by Doctors on important topics, like say nutrition or weight management, are sponsored by brands like Philips Avent, and its mobile app displays ads from advertising networks. Segnel’s Fujita is bullish about the company’s prospects, primarily thanks to the over 3 million monthly sessions by parents across the app and website, and with each user spending over 9 minutes on the website on average.

Brand Partners: The company’s early brand partners include Junior Horlicks, Dettol, Himalaya Baby Care, Philips Avent, Youreka and Franklin Templeton Investments.
