Using the web and partner sites, Indix collects dynamic product data such as price, promotion, availability, and seller information in addition to normalized catalogue data like product identifiers and attributes. Through data science and machine learning, the company cleanses and structures the data to make it readily available to businesses. As a data company, Indix wants to enable its customers to make better decisions, drive innovation, and create new models of commerce.
Founded in 2011 by Sanjay Parthasarathy, Sridhar Venkatesh, Satya Kaliki and Rajesh Muppalla, Indix has raised capital from Nokia Growth Partners, Nexus Venture Partners, Avalon Ventures and other angel investors such as Krishnan Ganesh, Vishal Gondal (Founder of GOQii), Venky Hariharan (co-founder of Kosmix) and Anand Rajaram (former head of Walmart Labs).
A robust product catalogue
Using machine learning and advanced algorithms, the company has built a product catalogue of over 1.5 billion products across 7000 categories and 10,000 attributes.
Indix killed its SaaS product to focus on APIs
Fairly early in their journey, the company took the strong call to kill its cash-generating SaaS business to focus on the API business model. The founders want to make Indix to Product Information, what Google Maps is to Location Information.
