Founders: Amit Mahensaria (In Pic), Alok Choudhury And Manish Kumar
In 2013, when Amit Mahensaria, Alok Choudhury and Manish Kumar set up their educational video-based technology company Impartus Innovations (Impartus) in Bengaluru, they knew they were onto an idea that could change the way education was imparted and received in India and other parts of the world. Through its learning platform, the company allows educational institutions to capture, edit and distribute content and extend the learning experience beyond the scope of a classroom. Today, Impartus caters to over 2,000 faculty users, 35,000 students across 600 classrooms and has recorded over 2,00,000 hours of classroom lectures. Its client list features over 70 educational institutions including some of the most prestigious names in the country.
Essential learning
Impartus’ flagship product, Lecture Capture, captures lectures which include vocal lectures by educators, PowerPoint presentations and content and feedback generated by students in these sessions. The company’s platform provides multiple interactive features that facilitate deeper learning and is accessible on any device. Its learning approach blends e-learning and classroom teaching practices to personalise content for students.
One of a kind
The founders take pride in stating that Impartus’ platform is in a league of its own and that its competition offers only piecemeal solutions, not a one-stop solution for learning. For instance, its competitors offer lecture capture, but lack a means to measure how effective the session is.
Search to widen scope
At present, Impartus is working on global innovations in video search and video analytics. It has also entered into a partnership with Xerox Research Centre India to improve search results on video and further innovations in the field of education.
