For manufacturing affordable eye care equipment (3nethra) to eradicate preventable blindness

Forus Health, started by K. Chandrasekhar and Shyam Vasudev, manufactures affordable eye care equipment. It has two devices, 3nethra – to eradicate preventable blindness; and ForusCare, a pre-screening ophthalmology device and tele-medicine solution. It supplies these equipments to a range of eye hospitals, individual ophthalmologists, diabetic clinics, diagnostic/health centres, optical retail companies and so on.

3nethra is a versatile solution that can detect five common eye problems in a single screening, and provides for automated analysis and report generation with cloud based storage of individual data. It is being used in community healthcare services and CSR initiatives. It can also be installed in kiosks in places with high footfalls such as airports, railway stations and even malls, where people can get accurate, quick and affordable screening for common eye diseases for their entire family.

Forus Health has been funded by IDG Ventures, Accel Partners and Asian Healthcare Fund. From 100 customers and Rs 4.3 crore revenues in FY 2012-13, it has touched 345 customers and Rs 14.8 crore revenues in 2014-15.


3nethra is single equipment that can be used for screening for five common ophthalmic problems. 

It is easy to install and can be made available even in places with high footfalls such as malls and airports for quick, affordable and accurate screening. 

It has touched 1.5 million lives till date with 750 installations and has probably changed lives of over 2 lakh people in more than 20 countries.
